Red Heron is a group of poets with links to Lampeter. We write in distinctive personal styles but share an enjoyment of performing.

Kathy Miles

"Kathy was born in Liverpool and is currently taking an MA in Creative Writing at the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David. Her third book, Gardening With Deer, will be published by Cinnamon Press in June 2016, and she has also published widely in magazines and anthologies. She has won the 2013 Second Light Poetry Competition, the 2014 Welsh Poetry Competition, and was recently highly commended in the 2015 Interpreter’s House competition. Jane has worked as an English, Dance and Drama Teacher and as a Director. She has exhibited in multi-media exhibitions and is currently the director of the Longwood Players and works in the literary, publishing and film industries in Wales.

Martin Locock

Martin likes to use short forms like the haiku to capture individual moments of insight. His background is in archaeology and his poems are placed within a landscape of stories and names. Josie has lived in Lampeter since 1973 and is co-founder of The Mulberry Bush. Her work has been broadcast on BBC Wales radio and TV. She completed an MA in Creative and Script Writing in 2007.

A graduate of the MA programme, she is proud to write all her work on a solar powered laptop living in an isolated mountain-top cabin. Winner of the 2021 Geoff Stevens Memorial Poetry Prize. Jane Campbell’s first collection Slowly as Clouds is published by Indigo Dreams. Jane’s work has also been longlisted for a Poetry Wales award, appeared in The Lampeter Review, One Hand Clapping and in the 2021 Saboteur best anthology “Bloody Amazing”. Her poem ‘The Gardener’ was featured on a BBC Wales Programme Giants in the Sky. Her debut collection 'Slowly as Clouds' is available now from: www.indigodreamspublishing.com/jane-campbell
